Does it work with any Claude Code session?
Yes. ReadBack auto-detects every running Claude Code session on your Mac — no project config, no flags. Start a new one and it appears in the sidebar instantly.
Is my code sent anywhere?
No. ReadBack only reads Claude Code's local transcript files and never writes to them. Spoken descriptions of code, diagrams and edits run through your own Claude subscription (the claude CLI); connecting another machine streams over your own LAN. Nothing leaves your network.
Do I need a Claude subscription?
Only for the smart, natural-language descriptions of code and diagrams, which use your installed Claude CLI. Everything else — reading prose, tables, and questions aloud — works with no API key and no account.
